How I Work

How we get started

So how do we begin?

Firstly, it is important to identify your real concerns. While you share what is on your mind, I ask questions to help clarify your issues and what is hindering your success. Some people are clear about their issues while others feel unsure or confused. Very often, people feel they know what’s troubling in their lives yet, it seems impossible to make a change.

Many people have goals in mind, however, temptation and current lifestyle patterns may invite them to revisit old habits. Problems can stem from issues such as relationship breakdown, integrity gaps between your values and your behaviour, anger, trauma, anxiety and self-doubt, depression, or workplace conflicts. Additional issues may include, career changes, redundancy, friendship challenges, or involvement in the court system.

And how does this work?

Problems can be hard to resist. Once problems are identified they can be addressed with an appropriate action or plan. In our sessions, developing a positive plan that ‘fits’ best for you, is taking action against a problem to reduce its influence in your life.

During the session we spend time discovering your authentic self and then explore the necessary actions and steps to bring about desired change in your life. Together we focus on reclaiming the often neglected expertise that you already own. We work with these neglected qualities so they become visible and meaningful again to you and others.

Attending therapy sessions can present a variety of choices and stimulate ideas which help find creative ways to tackle the situation. We look at concerns and issues from different angles. This promotes new possibilities and helps connect you to your motivation for change.

Together we identify the strengths, abilities and values that can support you while taking steps toward what you prefer in your life. Collaborative and respectful ways of working with therapy means we decide together on the important issues. I see you as a person separate from your problems.

“We are really enjoying having you in our lives and helping us through this chapter which we do believe we can get through. We haven’t felt so much positivity in such a long time, it’s really beautiful, so another big thank you. It’s also really nice having someone believe in us. We haven’t really had that before.”
